Implant-supported overdentures can be used to replace all teeth on a dental arch. For this purpose, several implants are placed in the patient’s upper and/or lower jaw and connected by a so-called bar or bridge of alloy metal (so-called substructure). The abutment(s) of the bar (connecting element) is/are connected with the overdenture teeth.

The patient has to wear a denture (conventional denture) before implantation, after which the overdenture is custom created. There are different alternatives for the overdenture, and teeth can be fabricated as metal or resin bonded to the bar abutments. The bite is then adjusted, and the overdenture is checked for function and comfort.
